A late January stroll at Rotary Park

It was a chilly day to be wandering around Rotary Park in Ajax, but we did it anyway!

Luckily, the snow has tapered off since early January, and the beach was empty (besides the occasional dog walker and bicycler), so we were able to play around with the exposure on my new camera. Did I mention I got a full frame this holiday season? 🙂

My favourite photo of the day is the first one in this set. It didn’t really look like winter weather at Rotary Park.

We snuck up on this little guy, who we named Pudgy. He was waiting for us to leave; he wanted to finish eating the seeds he found nearby.

Before we headed home, we took a drive down Lakeridge Rd. in Uxbridge, to admire their snow, and to take in the colourful sunset.

Distillery District Engagement Fun

It’s been quite a while since my last post. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and new year. To kick off 2014, I would like to share some Distillery District Engagement photos.

Over the holidays, I had a chance to reconnect with an old friend (who has been a part of my life since grade 2), now living in the UK. Lisa recently got engaged to her British boyfriend (apparently, I can’t get over the accent!), and the pair came to Canada for the holidays to celebrate in the frigid, well-below seasonal temperatures.

While they were here, I had the chance to snap some photos in Toronto. And what fun we had trying to keep warm! The weather was so cold, it caused my battery to die several times. Did I mention it’s really hard to shoot in mittens?

Nevertheless, we had great fun. Finished up in true Canadian style, with some Tim Hortons’ warm drinks and a couple of timbits.

Oh Canada

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day. I just got around to posting my photos tonight. I actually worked most of the day, but by 6 p.m., I was long gone and on my way to Pickering. That’s where the city put on a pretty cool holiday event with musicians Fefe Dobson and Jesse LaBelle, along with other local entertainment.

To say the least, the afternoon ended up being really awesome; an old high school friend showed up, a few best friends came, and even their friends stopped by. So by dusk, we had a nice group of proud Canucks watching the grand ol’ fireworks display. Oh, how I love this red & white CANADIAN day!

Building an work wardrobe: Aritzia

One of my biggest challenges has always been finding clothes I feel comfortable in, and that look appropriate for work – generally, I enjoy wearing yoga pants and graphic t-shirts.  But recently, I started a new job where I meet with other business professionals on a daily basis – and needles to say, I need nice fashion for work.

I can’t buy a whole new wardrobe at once, but if Stacey and Clinton (What Not to Wear) have taught me anything,  it’s to collect solid pieces, that you can mix and match. I hope you can join me as I work to develop my own style, and please leave your suggestions and related links.

My first new items of clothing include Aritzia’s Talula Exeter Blazer, dubbed a school boy blazer with a snug fit, and a couple of coloured T. Barton tanks, available for only $35 at Aritzia. They’re  perfect for layering under sweaters, shirts and evidently blazers.
