Breakaway

Once again, I’ve been a bit absent from the blogging world these past few weeks. First of all, happy April everyone! It seems Old Man Winter is still raging through Ontario, Canada and bringing with him snow and freezing rain. Burrrr! I can tell you, I’ve been fighting some type of cold bug, which has got me sniffling, sneezing, and at times, a bit feverish. Hopefully, I’m rid of this soon.

Anyhow, I thought I would breakaway from my typical posts, and write something a bit more meaningful. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had some really positive experiences. I wanted to say thank you to Krista from Balanced Life Yoga, who called me a few days ago and sent some of the kindest sentiments. I know photography is something I do secondary to broadcasting, but her genuine comments about my work has given me something so profound.

Also, I want to say that hard work does pay off. I’ve spent many years in the field – both photography and journalism – and after hours of tireless and thankless work, I’m starting to realize the value of experiences and more importantly, the amazing relationships I’ve built with people in the community. It’s the little things in life which keep me motived, and are a reminder of the amazing blessings I have been so lucky to receive.

Finally, a post to my mom – my biggest fan. Thank you for your words when I’ve been down. I think today is as good as any to say you’re appreciated.

  3. Isn’t it great just to stop and take an inventory of our experiences and blessings that brought us to point in life Emily.
We have had snow for the past three weeks in Moonbeam… but spring will get here when at its own time…

I like your drawing of the Santos Family… Penny has a treasure box filled with just a few of the hundreds of drawings from our four grandkids…

    1. Totally agree, Peter. I think it’s the small things in life that are the best reminder about why we are so lucky … and with all this bad news in the world, it’s nice to know there is still goodness and happiness.

  4. Good to see you blogging again Emily. I myself have beenaway for a few weeks. Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my photo blog. It is much appreciated. I enjoy reading your blog and your photos about life is beautiful.
Your comment on my dogs walking is very true. I have 5 beautiful furry faced friends and love them all dearly. They are like our children. I have 2 Miniature Pinchers and both of them think they are big lion’s. Our two Rottweiler ; s are large especially the male and he is like a baby and sometimes I think he thinks he is very small ! But he is a gentle giant,

    1. Thanks so much Laurette! Sometimes I just get so busy and sometimes I just haven’t been out taking photos. Recently, I’ve stored a few posts that will be published in the coming days.

It’s so funny you say that about your dogs … I think I mentioned it, but my dog is the same way. So small … but thinks he’s huge. Although, I find it pretty different for my cat. I sometimes think he thinks he’s people. πŸ˜›

  5. Hi Emily, glad you are back! I have been missing your updates and your lovely photos. Winter is hanging on in the Rockies as well. It has been one spring snowstorm after another. So happy that all your hard work is paying off for you and you are reaping the rewards. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks RJ! I stopped by your blog today, and I must say … your most recent posts with the inspiration quotes is a great idea. I think I want to do something similar, but have photos accompany it. Still gotta brainstorm. But fantastic idea.

  6. First of all, I hope you’re well by now. And secondly, you’re so young to have experienced everything like you have. If I were your mom, I’d be very proud of YOU!

    1. Aww thanks Ginnie! I think I’m one of the lucky ones to know exactly what I want in life, including career.

  7. As a Dad to two daughters (now adults), I can tell you that little photos and little art pieces like the one you shared with us, are absolute treasures of the heart. Nothing can replace those children, those moments, those little bits of love-filled art. I’m more than sure that your parents are bursting with pride for you, and I just somehow know that you will keep on giving them the gift of “you” in all you are and do. Keep up the good work, Emily.

    1. Thanks Phil for the thoughtful comment. I don’t have kids myself, and I’ve been told they become your life. I mean, my parents have saved everything I did. I will probably do the same one day. πŸ™‚

  8. Hi Emily

It is so lovely to see you back. Sorry you have not been feeling too well. Hopefully we finally have some spring weather heading our way, I always find a bit of sunshine is the very best thing when you are feeling low.

    Take care.

    1. Thanks Kate. I am back to 10 per cent! Woot! But it looks like you may be away … have a safe trip back to the UK and keep us posted!

    1. For sure, Sherri. I mentioned above, that there’s so much bad news in the world. Sometimes it’s those small things we have to focus on, to remind us good does exist.

  9. Sweet pics. Wonderful article! You inspire so many people, more than you know! I’m sure your mom would feel words aren’t necessary, she knows how you feel, because she feels the same about you. More than you could imagine!
