Squamish, British Columbia (Pt. 2)

Squamish, British Columbia has to be one of my new favourite town in Western Canada. With the smoke from the wildfires, we were lucky to have experienced Squamish.

Squamish located at the north end of Howe Sound on the Sea to Sky Highway. Also, the Sky Pilot Sea to Sky Gondola (100 metres/328 feet) is a great way to be an adventurer –  with awesome views, accessible trails and year-round, and its suspension bridge.

This town has a long and unique history with the Sasquatch, or otherwise, the legend of the Te Smailetl by the Squamish first nations. According to Squamish Adventure, “The men [are] exceedingly tall, had a strong sense of smell and were great hunters. They dressed in garments made from the untanned skins of the animals they had slain and because of this the Squamish people called them the Te Smailetl, or wild people.”

Smithers, BC (#Canada150 Pt. 2)

From Jasper, we headed north to British Columbia via the Yellowhead Highway. Our first night car camping when we reached Smithers, B.C.

We climbed the Hudson Bay Mountain, in search of a Smithers Street Piano — which we eventually found back in town (RE: It’s a flying piano).

That was a hard climb, though, at least for me.

Western Canada Trip: Vancouver, British Columbia (Pt. 1)

For the past two weeks, I’ve been travelling Western Canada. Over 14 days, my stops included Vancouver, Whistler, Banff, and Calgary. In the next couple of days, I’ll be sharing pictures from my vacation; a grand vacation of endless mountainous views and the spectacular Canadian Rockies – which stretches from Bow Valley to Jasper, Alberta.

But let me start in Vancouver, British Columbia – a lively, confident city with upscale shops, organic restaurants and a 22 km scenic seawall path.

You’ll get the best views on the Burrard Inlet waterfront, behind Canada Place, with an afternoon stroll through English Bay, or with a visit to the Harbour Centre and the Vancouver Lookout – a $16 dollar ticket will allow you all-day access.
